Central Air Conditioning

Keep Cool

We want all of our members to enjoy the benefits of central air conditioning. Unfortunately, sometimes members find that their units aren't working as well as they should be. If this is the case with your air conditioning, make sure you don't have any of the following situations in your unit:

  • Vents blocked by furniture, clothing, rugs, stacks of books, etc.
  • Open vents in the basement, limiting the cool airflow to the rest of the house.
  • Closed vents in any rooms.
  • Open doors and/or windows, allowing the air conditioning to cool the outdoors instead of your home!

We also suggest you close your curtains and draw your shades during the day to shield your home from the heat of the sun. This will allow you to set your thermostat at a higher temperature, saving you money.

Another way to save money is with your thermostat's setback-timer. You can set the temperature higher—or turn off the air conditioning completely—when you are at work or away for extended periods of time. You can then set the timer to turn the air conditioning back on before you arrive home. Thirty minutes is plenty of time to get your home nice and cool for your return.

Don't get stuck with a huge cooling bill! Follow our tips for staying cool efficiently. And remember, we will charge $35.00 for any maintenance requests concerning your air conditioning unit that stem from any of the problems listed above. If you have any questions about your air conditioning, you can give us a call at 734-971-9270. Here’s to a wonderfully cool, energy-efficient summer!
